Insulation Estimating
Insulation Take-off PadsIn our system, the insulation take-off is done right along with the piping take-off. It is completed in a way that allows you to be more productive and efficient with your time on every bid.
You select the type and the thickness, you also select the covering if applicable. You can also add shields, labeling and pads if they apply. You can even calculate and figure paint if needed on a piping line if you so desire. All of these options are available to your take-off and it is also a choice to pick a lump sum of itemization of the take-off. |
Insulation Take-offIn Plumbing, Industrial and HVAC systems, you have a very wide range of systems, and generally there are several types of materials involved. Our program allows you to split out by system or materials if you'd like, We also afford you the opportunity to use whatever materials you'd like and they can be chosen and changed as your take-off progresses.
We have many types of insulation choices like fiberglass, mineral wool, calcium silicate, polyisocyanurate foam, foamglass, Techlite foam, polyethylene, and even paint. Even if you are not an insulating contractor, it is a great tool to use for budgeting and costing out your projects. If you are looking for an "out of the can" ready to use system, you do not need to look any further. We can literally provide you with a program that sets up easily and quickly, and before you know it you are ready to go! Our system will add expendables, glue, shields, and will even give you the cost of the insulation as you would expect a subcontractor to bid the project! Hopefully, if you need something we have devised a way to include it! |
Specials and EquipmentEspecially in the Industrial Estimating arena for these types of projects, it is pretty much a given that you will be doing at least part of the project under what would be termed a shutdown.
So how do you quantify your inefficiencies? What could happen to your project? You may have to add manpower that has not been on the project. You may have to work overtime not needed on the remainder of the job. You will have inefficiencies and added safety costs that were not on your original estimate. If you have to get people from out of town to work this shutdown, you might have to add perdiem costs too. In most estimating systems, you don't get an opportunity to address these costs as easily as they are addressed with ours. In our system, you can set the shutdown schedule, the number of men and the duration, and then you are able to address all these costs separately with our shutdown breakout. This one item could cost you thousands of dollars if you do not get it right. It is much more complicated than just adding the intended overtime differential and moving on. Let us help you get it right every time! |
Material ListsIn the insulation take-off and in the resulting bid, most of the time if you are a mechanical contractor that does not self-perform insulation, you don't really need a take-off material list. This is perfectly okay, because we have a level of pricing that includes the costing in a couple of ways.
If you want a material list of insulation, we can certainly get that for you out of the system complete with labor, materials, expendables, and all of it is factorable and able to be manipulated as you would with any pother part of the project bid. However, most contractors rely on subcontractors to do this work but would like to see a number as it would be a subcontractor as a "budget" number. This is the cool part, we can do that too. All you do is select the variables and the summary places the budget number in the subcontractor list labeled "budget". Our insulation take-off is very easy, you select it with the pipe runs and it goes into the bid automatically as the piping for the systems are taken off. |
Making the job look great!A good insulation project makes the whole job look and feel like a professional contractor did the job! This is the impression that you want to leave with your customer. The piping is level plumb and square, the equipment is lined up and set properly, the insulation is installed in a professional manner, the gauges and thermometers are set straight, and the labeling id out on so it looks great too!
All of these things are required by the job specifications, and if you did your project quotation properly, you have enough labor and material costs included to give your customer the job that they thought they contracted with you to complete. This is critical to a continued relationship with your customers, and it all starts with a great bid! |
