How we compare

If you have tried to dip your toe into the pool of available Mechanical Estimating Software choices you have found an insurmountable amount of choices!  The trick is finding the one that fits your needs.  We are not trying to compete with the huge software companies out there that concern themselves mostly with lightening your wallet!

Our company is a stand-alone estimating system, you don't need a network to use us, we cater to your needs, and we are very affordable compared to similar offering, roughly less than 1/4 the cost!  We also cater to mid-sized to smaller mechanicals looking for "all inclusive" offerings that offer "big software company" results!

We also push the edge of technology so you can be as productive as possible doing your bids and managing your projects!

Technologies

If you are familiar with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access, you will be just fine with our products.  Our Emjay Systems Mechanical Estimating Systems Software is built on Microsoft Excel.  You probably won't recognize it much because it is a professionally designed application, but it is behind the scenes, we promise!

When we decided to build our system on this type of platform we had to be okay with a few things.  First of all, is it not able to be shared, so each copy of our program is a stand-alone version.  You cannot put it on the network and share it with several people, if this is your need then our product is not your best fit.

It does however address the needs for the estimator, buyers, distributors and project managers to be able to put this on their computer or tablet and walk out the door and use it wherever they are!  This was the type of person that we developed this program to help!

Tablets that can run Microsoft Excel in it's entirety will run our program and run it well.  We designed this to do just that, so when you are out on the job looking at a bid, you can do an on the spot take-off if you so please!  Cool right?

The Cloud

The cloud?  What are we talking about? Have you used Dropbox? Have you ever been sent a link with drawings to download? Have you heard of Office 365?  All of these modern technologies utilize Cloud based technologies.

At Emjay Systems Inc., we use them extensively and will continue to find new and innovative ways to maximize our effectiveness with this evolving technology!

When you purchase your software from us, you will be receiving a link from us that lives in the cloud, and you will be given cloud storage to use for your programs and files.  You can choose to use your own, but in the event of any problems we will use this to work back and forth.

All updates for data and program enhancements will come through cloud storage links, and will be stored there for future needs if necessary.

You will be able to access your work from anywhere that you can get to WIFI and your computer or tablet has access.  This is the greatest and most efficient way of working that has come along ever!  Even this website lives in the cloud so we can all get to it whenever we want to - that's kind of neat!

Mechanical Contracting Today

Have you ever had one of your customers call and need a price on something today?  Of course you have!  In fact it happens all the time doesn't it?, and actually it happens more and more all the time!  It seems like project budgeting and planning has gone out the window, and contractors, more and more, have been picking up the slack.

What that means if we have less and less time to do our work.  This leaves little time for planning, pricing, and putting our bids together.  Take-offs have to go much more quickly than ever before.  This is where we can help.  Our Mechanical Estimating System helps you speed up the process, and provide you with more confidence because you get better more reliable results!

Requirements

As you can imagine, if you are going to have a technological product, you are going to need a technological device to run it on, right?

Here are some of the requirements needed:

We prefer you use a tablet/laptop computer
(a desktop is sufficient just not mobile)
Windows 7 or higher
1 GHX of faster processes
8 GB of Ram
10 GB of Hard Drive Space available
A 12" or larger screen - touch screen preferred
Double monitor for digital take-off
Microsoft Office Pro 2013

This will get you close, there are some other details we will need to talk about as we customize your software solution.  Please consider purchasing a good PC/Tablet for utilizing all the benefits that our system has to offer, you will be glad you did!

We can help with hardware as well if you want to include it into the purchase.  As well as, we will be providing you with additional software needed to support our products as is needed for each specific customer.

Updates

One thing is for sure, as long as we are building software solutions, there will be continual change and improvements in our processes and trying to make it easier for our users!

So to take a step forward then, updates and upgrades are a common place thing for you to be using the greatest version that we have to offer.

Here is how it works.  When you buy our software package you will be using the most up to date version at that time.  Once there is an update available, you will be notified and your program will be upgraded so you are always using the most up to date version at all times!

This is critical because there are times when errors happen under certain conditions and they never showed up in the testing phase, they will need to be corrected whether you had those problems or not.  New enhancements and improvements you will want to utilize right away, so we send out an update for you to take advantage of them.

Our maintenance fees cover all these changes and updates as we go along.  One small yearly fee and you get everything that is available when it is ready.  

Licensing

Because our software is a stand-alone program, there is the temptation copy it and use it without paying for another copy.  Please be forwarned, we will know due to our software version detection and we will have no choice but to prosecute any individuals trying to do this without permission.

The Federal Law is as follows:

If the copyright owner brings a civil action against you, the owner can seek to stop you from using its software immediately and can also request monetary damages. The copyright owner may then choose between actual damages, which include the amount it has lost because of your infringement as well as any profits attributable to the infringement, or statutory damages, which can be as much as $150,000 for each program copied.

In addition, the government can criminally prosecute you for copyright infringement. If convicted, you can be fined up to $250,000, sentenced to jail for up to five years, or both.

This is very serious and should not be taken lightly.  Our advise is, if you have a situation where you are changing computers, let us know so we can help you get it accomplised!
