Take-off Services
Why should you use an outsource?Contractors are in a difficult position, they are generally in a position where estimating and in some cases designing to some extent gets provided tot he customer, "free of charge". Let's look at that a minute, you need to make a site visit, sit through a meeting, buy or print drawings, pay your staff to process the bid, pay your estimator to take-off the bid and assemble the quote, and then get to your customer in the form of a proposal, with or without design services.
Well, we can't help you with all of that but as it relates to take-off services, we can help you reduce your costs greatly. Most contractors are bidding millions of dollars of potential business every year and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars doing it. We can help you be more efficient and more accurate for less money, let's us show you how we can help! |
How does it work?We try to make this very simple. You send us the bid documents and we quote you a price for the take-off as requested.
We would need to know how you wanted this returned to you, like are there needed splits, system breakouts, alternates, bid breakdowns, material lists, pricing requests, etc. Our normal procedure would be to take projects off by system, by drawing, by area, and by discipline but the final determination of how a job is put together is determined by you and your customer. Once we have had a discussion about how this project and to be delivered to you, we have looked at the magnitude of work, and the amount of time needed to get it back to you, we will send you a quote to complete the project take-off for you. It's really that simple! |
How long does it take?Project take-offs are fun right? Your customer has waited until the last minute to invite you, you have possibly waiting until the last minute yourself, or it is a fast paced project and now there is no time!
Unfortunately, we can't get you more time, we wish we could do that for you because we could use that kind of a service ourselves! However, that said, we can help you if we do have at least enough time to get the job done in a professional manner. Obviously, the bigger the job, the larger the effort will be to get the project bid take-off accomplished. And it also goes without saying, the more time we all have to do our jobs the better job we can do for you. Simply put, we can help you and be an extra set of hands maybe at a time when you may be ready to turn down a bid that you didn't have to! |
How much does it cost? The average mechanical contractor spends 2 weeks taking off a project for a bid, and the average cost for estimating is roughly 2 thousand dollars.
This involves an estimator who is probably in the middle of several bids at various stages of evolution, and really doesn't have to do another bid. That is reality! Where we can help is we don't field all the phone calls that he has from subs and suppliers, he will still handle that part, but we work directly in the drawings, that part that seems to be the hardest to budget time for, right? We can generally do the take-off in half of the time, and the resulting cost is much less than you would incur than doing this task yourself. We are a value added service, and whether you use us regularly, or only when you have too much to do, we can help your estimating costs! |
Polypropylene Piping System Take-off Compares! If you are considering using Polypro Piping on your next big piping project, how do you compare effectively? It is imperative that you, first of all, engage a company that can be useful to your cause, and secondly, has the skill and ability to provide you with a solution that is reliable and trusted to be accurate.
Emjay Systems is one of the best way to get this accomplished better than virtually anyone out there today! We can do this in really three way, a material comparison that takes YOUR piping take-off sheets from metals and converts it to Polypro Piping including material costs, labor and tools so you can compare fairly. Secondly, you can dive in deeper with A value engineering review, same as the first option, except a thorough drawing review for other cost saving options is accomplished as well. The final options, and probably one of the best TRUE comparisons, is to have us do a Polypro Piping Specific Take-off that is done with Polypro Piping in mind.
